The European Halal Development Agency (EHDA)'s European Halal Standard comprises of a suite of module based Technical Standard that specify requirements to be met by an organisation to enable the production and processing of Halal products throughout the supply; primary agriculture and livestock production, packaging, storage and distribution, processing of both halal and safe food products.

The European Halal Standard has been developed to ensure complete Halal food supply chain assurance. The standard has been created to take into consideration requirements of world leading Halal standards and scientific developments (DNA testing for pork and other non Halal meat products).

The Certification against EHDA Halal standard is achieved through audit by third party Certification Bodies. This provides both confidence and assurance to Muslim consumers and Halal food buyers (retailers) of the complete Halal integrity of product and competence of the supplier.

The EHDA Halal standard has been created to future risk proof, informative report format and auditor friendly structure. The EHDA technical committee will ensure that the EHDA Halal Standard continues to evolve with input from a wide base of international stakeholders. EHDA has a policy to work in partnership with other global halal standards that it recognises for Halal imports into UK and Europe. It is hoped that over time worldwide Halal Standard bodies will cooperate with EHDA to create an internationally recognised Halal Standard that has the EHDA halal standard at it's core.
