ACJU is a non-political, non-governmental national religious institution in Sri Lanka exclusively for Muslims. ACJU consist of certified muftis/scholars who are learned and trained sharia matters in accordance to the Holy Quran & Noble Sunnah.
This institution was established in 1924 with a handful of Ulama and with the pure intention of giving spiritual and temporal leadership to the Muslim Minority Community of Sri Lanka by assembling the Muslim Theologians all over the Island under an umbrella, and has been rendering its dedicated service to the community for the last eight decades.
The ACJU was incorporated by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in 2000.
By the grace of Allah, the Almighty, the organization plays an active role as the Islamic religious higher authority of Sri Lanka.
Primary Activities : -Organizing and conducting discussions, meetings, seminars and conventions; -Establishing and maintaining branches and libraries; -Publishing books, periodicals and magazines; -Upgrading of Islamic seminaries and other Islamic educational institutions; -Encouraging collection and distribution of Zakaat through the branches of the ACJU; -Organizing discussions among Da'wah institutions; -Co-ordination of religious and social work of Aalimas and guiding them in such activities carried out by them; -Issuing of Fatwas (Religious Rulings) as and when necessary; -Certification of Halal foods and beverages that are brought to the market; -Ensuring the well-being of Ulama and / or their dependents who were afflicted in the course of the Da'wah service; -Persuading all Ulama eligible to become members of the ACJU to get its membership; and -Making every attempt to achieve the goals of the ACJU.
